Give the South Coast a full weekend rather than treating the beach as a turnaround point. This suggested three-day trip pairs a leisurely drive through Kiama and Berry with two nights around Jervis Bay. The reward is a whole day when you can leave the overnight bags unpacked and choose your beach around the weather.

3 days. Room to enjoy it.
Day 1
Make the drive south part of the holiday
Leave Sydney with enough charge for your planned detours and a backup stop. Use Kiama as the first proper break, then continue to Berry for lunch and a village wander. Keep the afternoon light so you arrive in Huskisson before dinner rather than adding another coastal detour after dark. Choose accommodation within reach of the waterfront if you would like to park once and walk to dinner.

Day 2
Spend a full day beside Jervis Bay
Start around Vincentia or Hyams Beach and choose a short walk or beach stop that suits the conditions. Allow time for parking instead of expecting to pull straight up to the sand on a busy weekend. Return to Huskisson for a late lunch, or add a booked bay cruise if that is the part of the holiday you care about most. A relaxed day close to your base leaves room to recharge the car during a confirmed accommodation charging window.

Day 3
Leave space for the journey home
Have breakfast before starting the return to Sydney. Check the car’s route estimate with the actual motorway trip entered, then choose whether Berry is a useful charging and lunch stop. If traffic is heavy, a planned town break is more useful than adding extra distance to chase a scenic detour. Treat a national-park extension as an extra day rather than trying to squeeze it between checkout and a late arrival home.

Before you go
A few checks. A better trip.
Book two nights in one base to reduce packing and local driving.
Check beach conditions and local parking restrictions; this route does not require beach driving.
If adding Booderee, check its separate entry, booking and access requirements before travelling.
Useful answers
Your trip questions, answered.
Is Jervis Bay a day trip from Sydney in an EV?
It can be a long day depending on your starting suburb, traffic and charging needs. This itinerary deliberately allows three days so the beach gets more time than the return drive. Use your car’s navigation for the actual distance and energy estimate.
Where is a useful charging stop on the way?
Berry has an operator-listed Supercharger at Silos Estate. Confirm your vehicle can use it and select a second compatible option through the NSW charging map before departure.
Should I stay in Huskisson or Vincentia?
Huskisson suits travellers who want meals and the waterfront close together; Vincentia can suit a quieter beach-focused base. Confirm accommodation charging separately rather than assuming either town guarantees overnight access.
