Scheduling
Can charging follow the time window you choose? Compare your actual electricity tariff and vehicle schedule; do not assume an advertised off-peak rate applies to you.
EVITAL Charging
Your car. Your parking. Your power. Understand the choices before you buy a charger—and turn them into a practical installation brief.
Free planning tool. No phone or email required. Installer matching is not yet available.

Home charging
A higher-powered charger is not automatically a better fit. Start with driving distance and available charging time, then check your exact vehicle's AC capability and the property's supply with a licensed electrician.
Our planner shows the energy needed to replace a day's driving. It does not calculate a full-battery charge, inspect your switchboard or approve a product for your property.
Read the Australian installation cost guide →Request an itemised scope: the charger, electrical work, cable route, any supply or switchboard changes, commissioning, warranty and recurring software costs. The existing calculator is a planning range, not a fixed price or a site assessment.
Open the cost calculator →Smart charging & solar
Can charging follow the time window you choose? Compare your actual electricity tariff and vehicle schedule; do not assume an advertised off-peak rate applies to you.
Can the equipment respond to surplus solar, and is the car parked there during daylight? Confirm inverter, meter and charger compatibility rather than assuming every smart charger supports the same setup.
How will charging share capacity with other building demand? Ask the electrician about the intended design, communications and what happens when demand is high.
These functions vary by product and configuration. Smart charging is not, by itself, a claim of bidirectional charging support or guaranteed savings. See the government sources below.
Apartment & strata charging
Ask your strata manager or owners corporation whether a building-readiness assessment already exists. Clarify approvals, common-property work, electricity billing and how the system can expand as more residents need access.
Tenants should involve their property owner. The approval process depends on the building and jurisdiction; the planner is not a legal or engineering assessment.
Read the government strata-resident guide →Select the apartment path in the planner. It creates a discussion checklist for approvals, building capacity, cost responsibility and ongoing billing—without treating your building as a standard household installation.
Prepare an apartment brief →Workplaces, hospitality & fleets
Who needs to charge, how often and for how long? A guest parked overnight, a staff vehicle and a fleet turnaround create different requirements. Record parking access, expected usage, electricity arrangements and responsibilities for maintenance and billing.
A qualified site assessment is needed before deciding equipment or project economics. EVITAL does not assess grants, network-connection approval, investment returns or charging-operator interest.

Not always. Daily distance and parking time matter. Australian Government guidance notes that an appropriate existing power point may meet some drivers' needs. A dedicated charger can offer faster charging, but a licensed electrician must assess installation requirements. Follow the vehicle and charging-equipment manufacturer guidance.
Not necessarily. The vehicle AC charging limit, compatible supply, installation design and available load can restrict the actual rate. A public DC fast-charging figure is not the car's home AC limit. The planner keeps those uncertainties visible rather than confirming equipment compatibility.
Depending on equipment and configuration, smart charging can schedule or control charging around a tariff, available solar or a building power demand. Check metering, communications, software support and ongoing charges. A smart feature label alone does not establish savings, solar compatibility or bidirectional capability.
No. A shared building may need an assessment of electrical capacity, common property, approvals, load management, billing and future expansion. The apartment path produces questions for the strata manager and qualified assessors instead of applying a household quote range to a building.
No. The planner creates a local brief for you to use independently. Installer matching and installation requests are not open. EVITAL does not currently send this brief to an installer, offer a binding price or confirm that a property is suitable for installation.

Reviewed 5 October 2026. Daily supply energy = distance × energy use per 100 km ÷ 100 ÷ charging efficiency. Average rate = daily supply energy ÷ available hours. Scenario time = daily supply energy ÷ the lower of the scenario power and a known, user-selected vehicle AC limit.
The default 18 kWh/100 km and 90% efficiency are editable assumptions—not a measured vehicle average. The method does not model temperature, charging curves, per-phase vehicle behaviour, competing loads or site condition. Apartment and commercial results intentionally omit household power and price outputs.
Factual planning information only. Use a licensed electrician for assessment, design and installation. No electrical work should be attempted from this guide.
