A little time away

Make the journey part of the escape.

Swap a long motorway holiday for a few nights above the coast. This suggested trip gives Tamborine Mountain its own day, then continues via Canungra to the Green Mountains side of Lamington National Park. The itinerary is deliberately light on driving once you reach the rainforest, with charging decisions made before the final mountain road.

Your suggested itinerary

3 days. Room to enjoy it.

Day 1

A village day on Tamborine Mountain

Head from Brisbane to Tamborine Mountain and make Gallery Walk your first slow stop. Choose a rainforest walk from the current park information; Curtis Falls is one option when access and conditions suit. Leave time for lunch and a village wander before check-in. The purpose of the first night is to settle into the hinterland, not rush across several national-park sections in one afternoon.

  • Tamborine Mountain
  • Gallery Walk
  • Curtis Falls viewing area

Finish the day: Tamborine Mountain

Day 2

Through Canungra into Lamington

Use Canungra for provisions and a proper break before continuing towards O’Reilly’s and the Green Mountains section. Confirm road access, arrival arrangements and any booked destination charge before setting out on the climb. At your base, choose a short rainforest activity rather than starting a long walk late in the day. Lamington has distinct access points; this plan does not treat Binna Burra and Green Mountains as adjacent stops by road.

  • Canungra
  • Lamington National Park Road
  • Green Mountains

Finish the day: A confirmed Lamington-area stay

Day 3

A rainforest morning and a measured return

Allow a morning activity close to your stay, then return via Canungra with enough daylight for the winding section. Recheck the vehicle’s estimate once the return route is entered. If you want a Gold Coast beach afternoon as well, make that an extra night rather than adding a second region to a full departure day. This keeps charging and rest breaks easy to fit around the drive.

  • Rainforest near your base
  • Canungra
  • Brisbane

Finish the day: Home in Brisbane

Before you go

A few checks. A better trip.

  • Check the exact Lamington access road for your booked stay; do not navigate between park sections by name alone.
  • Download route details before the mountain leg and ask your stay about local mobile coverage.
  • Check park alerts after heavy rain and remain on signed tracks and viewing areas.

Useful answers

Your trip questions, answered.

Can I combine Tamborine and Lamington in one day?

You could drive through both, but it leaves little time for walks and creates a long mountain day. This version uses three days so each area has a useful overnight stop.

Is the O’Reilly’s charger available to every EV?

The retreat describes a Tesla charging station and asks visitors to reserve a time with reception. Confirm access and compatibility for your exact car before depending on it.

Does this route include Springbrook?

No. Springbrook is a separate hinterland option. Add a night and plan its roads and charging separately if you want to include it, rather than treating it as a quick through-route from Lamington.
