At a glance

An itemised illustration explains more than a weekly headline. The same vehicle, term and cost categories are needed to understand differences between two documents.

Start with the vehicle and the document

A quote can refer to a different variant, model year, delivery date or drive-away price from the vehicle being researched. Accessories, delivery charges and on-road costs can also be treated differently. The vehicle description and price basis belong at the top of the comparison.

A dated document is useful because stock availability, pricing and quoted terms may change. An indicative website calculation is different from a written offer with validity dates and contractual conditions.

Separate the finance schedule from the payroll illustration

The finance schedule describes the financed amount, payment timing, term, fees and residual. A payroll illustration may then show estimated deductions or take-home-pay effects. The second number cannot explain the first without the assumptions behind both.

A quoted interest rate and a comparison rate are not interchangeable labels. Where a comparison rate is supplied, the amount, term and included fees used to calculate it matter. EVITAL does not infer an actual lender comparison rate from a monthly payment.

Identify what the running-cost budget includes

Insurance, registration, tyres, servicing and charging can appear as budget allowances. That does not establish the actual invoice amount or the insurance policy terms. The reconciliation process determines how differences between budget and spending are handled.

  • Which items are estimates and which are contractual charges?
  • Are management and establishment fees shown separately?
  • Are GST-inclusive and GST-exclusive figures labelled consistently?
  • What happens to unspent funds or a budget shortfall?

Record the exit and reporting questions

The residual, early termination provisions and employment-change process are separate from ordinary scheduled payments. A lower regular figure can leave a larger amount outside that figure.

The employer or payroll team can explain reporting and deduction arrangements; the contract describes finance obligations. This checklist is a factual document-reading aid. EVITAL does not obtain quotes, negotiate terms, recommend providers or determine suitability.

Common questions

Can EVITAL provide or compare personalised quotes?

No. This page explains document fields. EVITAL currently has no quote, application or referral service.

Does a lower weekly figure establish a lower total cost?

No. Term, fees, residual, operating budgets and tax assumptions can differ between illustrations.

Is a budgeted insurance amount a confirmed premium?

Not necessarily. The insurer’s quote and policy documents establish the premium and cover terms.
