A charger-equipped cabin and a powered site are different bookings
Before choosing a site or cabin, ask whether your exact accommodation can use the charger. Some installations are allocated to selected cabins. Shared equipment can have queues, fees and operating rules. Get that answer before making a non-refundable Christmas reservation.
Confirm the connector, whether a cable is supplied, how charging is activated and how payment works. If towing, ask whether you need to unhitch and where the caravan can wait. Ordinary camping outlets should not be treated as EV charging permission.
Match the stay to the type of holiday
For a beach-based NSW break, compare Umina and Tuncurry with the length of your drive from home. For an inland Victorian holiday, choose between a Ballarat city base and Halls Gap’s regional setting. Biggera Waters offers a Gold Coast base; Victor Harbor gives South Australians a coastal option.
These are separate alternatives, not a continuous itinerary. The shortlist describes charging arrangements rather than ranking park quality. No live Christmas vacancy, price, guest score or charger reservation has been checked.

Use overnight time without assuming a full battery
A charger’s advertised power is an upper limit. The car’s AC charging capability, shared supply and session duration can reduce the amount added. For example, 7 kW sustained for four hours is 28 kWh before losses; the real result can be lower. Check the vehicle’s charging screen and allow enough energy for the following day.
Use a public fast charger for a time-sensitive travel leg when appropriate. A park’s shared AC unit is better suited to a longer parked stay than a short stop with a queue behind you.

Send these questions with the booking enquiry
Ask the park to confirm its current arrangement in writing. Keep the response with your booking so the arrival team can see what was agreed.
- Which cabin or site category is eligible for EV charging?
- Is the charger communal, reservable or first come, first served?
- What connector, cable, app and fees apply?
- Can a towing vehicle access the bay without blocking another site?
- What is the nearest compatible public backup?
- Are there Christmas arrival, minimum-stay or cancellation conditions?
Your car. Your distance.
How much charge could the drive use?
The starting values are an example, not a measured route or a recommendation for departure charge. Change them to match your complete journey.
Estimated battery use
30.0%18.0 kWh for the entered journey
Percentage points of a full usable battery. Keep your arrival reserve separate.
Calculation and assumptions
Energy (kWh) = distance × consumption ÷ 100 + extra energy. Battery use (%) = energy ÷ usable battery capacity × 100.
Defaults: 60 kWh usable battery, 18 kWh/100 km and no extra stationary allowance. These are illustrative inputs, not specifications for a named EV. The estimate is battery energy consumed, not electricity purchased from a charger; charging losses are not included. Weather, hills, traffic, towing, load and battery condition can change the result. Use your vehicle’s route planner and keep an appropriate reserve.
Useful answers
Before you set off.
Does a powered caravan site include EV charging?
Do not assume it does. Obtain explicit park permission and use equipment and an electrical setup suitable for the vehicle. A designated EV charger is a separate facility.
Are these Christmas holiday park deals?
No. This is a seasonal editorial special, not a discount offer. Prices, vacancies and minimum stays must be checked with each operator.
Is a 22 kW AC charger always faster than 7 kW for my EV?
Only if the vehicle and electrical supply support the higher AC rate. Check the car’s onboard charger limit and the station’s current configuration.
Evidence behind the guide

Event dates come from organisers or councils where available. Charger descriptions use operator or official destination information. Older inventories and pending events are identified in the guide; a review date does not turn an older source into a live check.
