Brisbane to the Gold Coast by EV: a three-day Broadwater beach break

Stay around the Broadwater for a coastal break with fewer changes of base. This itinerary focuses on Biggera Waters and Southport, with space for a beach day and an optional festive evening.

Day one

Brisbane to a Biggera Waters base

Enter your accommodation as the destination and check the full route from your Brisbane suburb. Allow extra time for holiday traffic and a break that suits the family. Charge at a suitable public station if needed before settling into the accommodation.

Treasure Island offers cabin, villa and site options in Biggera Waters. Book based on the accommodation you want, then confirm charging separately. Avoid assuming that a general ‘EV charging’ amenity guarantees access from every campsite.

Day two

Spend the day near the Broadwater

Head towards Southport for a park or waterfront outing, then leave time for lunch and a relaxed afternoon. Choose activities according to the weather and the group’s interests. Keep driving distances small once you are based on the coast.

If your dates include 12 December 2026, the council event listing gives Broadwater Christmas Twilight as a 3–9 pm festive market at the Great Lawn. It is an optional date-specific addition, not an attraction that continues throughout the Christmas school holidays.

Day three

Return with a separate charging check

Check your Brisbane return route before checkout. If the public charger you intended to use is unavailable, use a compatible saved alternative while there is still enough battery to reach it. A shorter geographic distance can still involve substantial time in traffic.

The 90 km calculator input is an illustration, not a measured route from every Brisbane suburb. Add your actual travel and local detours, and adjust consumption for your car, load and conditions.

Keep the coastal and hinterland trips distinct

This is a coastal-base itinerary. If you want mountain lookouts and rainforest, use EVITAL’s existing Gold Coast hinterland guide and allow a separate day or a longer stay. Adding both itineraries together changes the driving and energy plan.

Check park booking conditions, attraction openings and weather alerts for the dates you choose. Charging locations are published options, not live availability or a guaranteed booking.

Estimated battery use

27.0%

16.2 kWh for the entered journey

Percentage points of a full usable battery. Keep your arrival reserve separate.

Calculation and assumptions

Energy (kWh) = distance × consumption ÷ 100 + extra energy. Battery use (%) = energy ÷ usable battery capacity × 100.

Defaults: 60 kWh usable battery, 18 kWh/100 km and no extra stationary allowance. These are illustrative inputs, not specifications for a named EV. The estimate is battery energy consumed, not electricity purchased from a charger; charging losses are not included. Weather, hills, traffic, towing, load and battery condition can change the result. Use your vehicle’s route planner and keep an appropriate reserve.

Useful answers

Before you set off.

Can caravan guests charge at Treasure Island?

Do not assume access. The published inventory identifies cabin-linked charging and no communal plugs. Ask the park about the arrangement for your exact booking and save a public backup.

Is the Broadwater Christmas event on throughout December?

No. The verified listing is for 12 December 2026, 3–9 pm. Check the organiser before travel and use other local activities on different dates.

Evidence behind the guide

Sources checked 5 November 2026.

Event dates come from organisers or councils where available. Charger descriptions use operator or official destination information. Older inventories and pending events are identified in the guide; a review date does not turn an older source into a live check.
